My goal is to instill a love of music in my students as well as to inspire them to understand and appreciate various music styles and eras. I continually stress the importance of musical expression in combination with technical mastery, and I use an individual approach when selecting repertoire for my students, in order to focus on their personal interests, aspirations, and abilities.
Over the years I have used nearly every method available, and while I have my preferences, I do not use one particular method, but instead I prefer to find the best fit for the student. Therefore, I choose from a wide range of music books, theory papers, and modern technology pending the learning style of the musician.

Theory of Music
Recitals are a great opportunity for students to perform for others and to be encouraged by an audience. I offer 2 recitals every year; one of them in the Spring and the other in Fall. I do not require my students to participate in the recitals, but I do encourage them to participate and for them to have music memorized.
I want the performance to be an inspiring experience for all my students. Many times one of the pieces is a fun duet, a small ensemble, or a vocal piece with the accompaniment.
It’s a wonderful way for parents to benchmark their children’s progression over the years, and it is an opportunity for the students to gain confidence in performing in front of others.
All members of the families and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.
